Seafood, Sake & Seasonal Flavours: Hokuriku Fair at Zenryoku Izakaya

For two weeks only, Zenryoku Izakaya brings the taste of Hokuriku, Japan’s northwest coastal region comprising of the coastal region comprising Fukui, Ishikawa, and Toyama, to its cosy spot along Upper Thomson Rd. From now till 29 November 2025, diners can enjoy a special Hokuriku Fair featuring regional delicacies and premium sake that showcase the area’s famed seafood and seasonal ingredients.

Limited-Time Menu

Zenryoku Izakaya’s Hokuriku Fair menu brings together a curated selection of dishes that spotlight the region’s freshest catch and local produce. Each creation stays true to classic izakaya comfort while introducing Hokuriku specialties, offering diners something both familiar and exciting.

Grilled Surume Ika ($26) features whole Japanese flying squid from Ishikawa, grilled to perfection with a smoky, savoury finish. Tender yet slightly firm, this is a satisfying dish that embodies the coastal flavours of Hokuriku.

Amaebi Karaage ($16) showcases crispy deep-fried sweet shrimp from Fukui, delicate on the inside and crunchy on the outside. This is a light and crunchy dish that pairs beautifully with sake.

Hiyashi Tomato ($7) offers a refreshing twist with sweet plum jelly, balancing acidity and umami in a surprising yet harmonious way. Its light, playful flavour makes it a refreshing contrast to the richer seafood dishes.

Tako Tataki Ponzu ($22) features lightly seared octopus served with bright, citrusy ponzu. The combination of tender octopus and refreshing acidity makes this a vibrant, palate-awakening dish — perfect before moving on to richer izakaya items.

Iwashi Mirin-boshi ($8) presents scrumptious dried sardines marinated in mirin and soy sauce, and grilled until caramelised, offering a rich, satisfying bite with a sweet–savoury finish.

Premium Sake for Pairing or Gifting

A special lineup of seasonal and rare sake curated just for this fair, is available for pairing or purchase, perfect for pairing with any of the izakaya dishes or taking home to enjoy later.

Ippongi Denshin Double Moon Junmai Daiginjo ($188)
Elegant and gently aromatic, Double Moon offers soft floral notes and a smooth, refined sweetness. Its clean, polished finish makes it an easy-drinking Junmai Daiginjo that pairs beautifully with lighter dishes like grilled squid or chilled tomato.

Fukumitsuya Kagatobi Super Cold Junmai Dry ($88)
Brisk, crisp, and refreshing, Kagatobi Super Cold delivers a sharp dry profile designed to shine when served chilled. Its clean finish and subtle umami make it ideal for classic izakaya fare, especially fried or grilled seafood dishes.
