Discover Prestigious Wagyu Beef From Nagasaki Prefecture At La D’Oro

Situated along the western shores of Kyushu Island in Japan, Nagasaki Prefecture is imbued with a steep cultural heritage and surrounded by abundant natural beauty.

Renowned not only for its historical significance but also for its exquisite cuisine. Nagasaki Prefecture offers a diverse array of delights, from fresh seafood like tuna to luscious fruits such as strawberries, and notably, the prestigious Nagasaki Wagyu beef.

We were honoured to attend a Nagasaki Dinner Reception at La D’Oro, an Italian-Japanese fusion restaurant, on 19 January. During the event, we had the privilege of witnessing the certification ceremony conducted by Mr. Kengo Oishi, the governor of Nagasaki, as he presented Chef-owner Yohhei Sasaki of La D’Oro with the recognition for serving Nagasaki Wagyu.

We had the opportunity to try some of the dishes prepared by the chef made with Nagasaki ingredients, and here are some of the dishes worth mentioning!

First up was the Nagasaki Hiramasa Cartoccio, showcasing succulent yellowtail amberjack bathed in an Italian seafood broth with rice, all enveloped in a plastic wrapping. The fish proved exceptionally tender and sweet, complementing the savoury soup perfectly.

Next, the highlight of this dinner was the Nagasaki Wagyu A5 Tenderloin, accompanied by a Wasabi Green Apple Sauce and Nagasaki Shiro Negi (white long onion). The meat was incredibly juicy, and it effortlessly melts in the mouth.
