It’s the most wonderful time of the year. *Cues your Christmas carols

Christmas (and New Year’s Eve) is approaching! Though festive seasons during this period will be quite different from usuals and things are looking and feeling rather out-of-the-ordinary, we can still celebrate this season of giving and feasting with a small group of your loved ones and recharge yourselves for another year.

If you’re looking for the best Japanese restaurants to spend Christmas this year with those dearest to you, we’ve got you covered. Many of these have food delivery and takeaway options, or if you are looking for where to get your Japanese ingredients and groceries to whip up your own Christmas feast, here are 5 Japanese restaurants you may want to consider for your Christmas 2020 at home or out!

Dine-in, Takeaway, and Delivery options available.

A concept by Japanese fine dining restaurant, YOSHI, Nozomi (のぞみ) means “hope” in Japanese, and this place is born out of circumstance during the COVID pandemic. Nozomi by Yoshi converts their YOSHI's Kaiseki (multi-course meal revolving around seasonal produces) menu into a takeaway and delivery friendly menu at affordable prices.

If you are planning to dine in, treat yourself to a wide variety of high-quality bento boxes and donburis in a relaxing and casual atmosphere. From their signature Chirashi Don and Omakase Bento to Sashimi and Sushi Platter, and even Claypot rice, you’ll be able to treat your loved ones to a delightful feast without breaking the bank!

What’s even better? If you are considering hosting your own cozy Christmas party at home but don’t want to settle for ordinary takeaways, Nozomi by Yoshi offers delivery right to your doorstep too!

With a diverse selection available, almost everything on their dine-in menu is available for delivery. For those 18 and above and need some sake and cocktails, Nozomi by Yoshi has them for delivery as well!

From handmade sushi on-the-spot, drinks and desserts, Fish Mart Sakuraya is popular with Singaporeans for its fresh sashimi imported directly from Japan and authentic Japanese cuisine. One of the attractions of Fish Mart Sakuraya is that you can enjoy a wide selection of sake and shochu at a reasonable price.

3. Torikin

Opened in November 2014 and serving one of the best Motsunabe (もつ鍋) in Singapore, Hakata Motsunabe is one of the most popular and recommended items at Torikin. This hotpot is made from wagyu beef tripe from Southern Kyushu and cooked in their signature chicken collagen broth. Motsunabe (もつ鍋) is a type of Japanese hotpot made from beef or pork offals, and it is a signature food in the Fukuoka region.

If you are an avid fan of hotpots, skip the usual Hai Di Lao and try an authentic Japanese hotpot! It is one of my soul foods to date, and I guarantee it won’t let you down.

Torikin not only offers dine-in and takeaway, but they also offer delivery via Oddle, Foodpanda, and Grab!

If you are spending Christmas with just your partner, consider getting their Hakata Collagen Motsunabe at only $89 for 2 pax!

4. Katachi Sushi

Katachi restaurant combines two concepts, Katachi Style - Authentic Japanese Traditional Kaiseki, and Katachi Sushi - intimate omakase dining experience. Katachi is one of my Japanese colleagues’ favorite Japanese restaurants in Singapore, and this alone is enough to justify how worth a visit to Katachi is.

From now till the end of December 2020, Katachi is having a Christmas Special - SEI OMAKASE SET 1-FOR-1 ($148++).

This is applicable only for dine-in! Omakase for 2 pax at $148++, what a great deal?!

If you are looking to doll up and dine in a fancy (and quiet) restaurant with your loved ones this festive month, then you should consider making a reservation at Katachi now!
