Heiwa Wellness & Spa: New Luxurious Japanese-Style Onsen in Singapore Includes Spa Pass with Kimono Omakase Dining!

Spa

It’s been well into three years since the Covid pandemic has altered the way we work and live our lives, and while being able to work from home has been life changing, it does unleash a whole new set of problems.

Back aches, tired eyes from staring at screens, and drawing the line between personal time and work has been difficult for most working-from-home folks.

Luckily for us, HEIWA Wellness & Spa has invited us to head down for a one day spa pass completed with a hearty Japanese meal. This experience was seriously rejuvenating, and a much needed rest day away from computer screens and mobile phones!

Read on for our full experience and what to expect!

First Impressions

Conveniently located at Harbourfront Centre, HEIWA Wellness and Spa is the perfect and essential retreat. The spa has one of the most luxurious premium massage and spas in Singapore, and is also a one-stop destination that offers a wide range of facilities such as a mineral-rich jacuzzi, infrared-powered steam sauna and bath, and well-trained certified masseurs for full body massages and foot reflexology.

Upon entering the spa, we were greeted by the simple and aesthetically pleasing Japanese bamboo interior that instantly transports you to an authentic Japanese bath house in Japan!

After removing and safeguarding your shoes at the counter, each guest is given an RF bracelet that unlocks a designated locker for you to keep your belongings. Each guest is entitled to disposable undergarments and a Yukata to be worn before and after enjoying the Onsen!

Extra disposable undergarments and towels are also found in the changing area as well!

Upon entering the changing area, we were wow-ed by the amount of amenities and products the spa has attentively prepared for female guests! Dyson hairdryers, sanitised hairbrushes, hair serums, even sensitive skin facial wash, disposable toothbrushes and toothpaste were all free for females customers to use after your Onsen experience.

Mineral Rich Onsen

Their mineral rich Onsen is refreshingly therapeutic, and a great way to detox. Some of the minerals include calcium, sodium, iron and carbonate. Do be reminded that before entering the onsen, you should take a quick rinse with the provided shampoo, conditioner and body wash provided!

The bath also offers privacy as only 4 pax are allowed in the Onsen at all times!

If this is your first time visiting an Onsen, and you aren’t sure on what to do, we got you!

Here is a helpful guide on the Dos and Don’ts when visiting an Onsen!

Full Spectrum Infrared Sauna & Steam Bath

HEIWA Wellness & Spa also has an infrared sauna! Unlikely traditional steam saunas, infrared sauna heats your body directly without warming the air around you, and allows you to feel the same effect as a traditional sauna but at lower temperatures. Which makes it accessible to people who can’t tolerate the heat of a conventional sauna!

A maximum of 4 pax are allowed in the infrared sauna at all times! Do dry yourself off as best as you can before stepping into the sauna, as no water is allowed or used at all!

If you are looking to cool down after your soak and using the sauna, head into the steam room! The temperature in the steam room can be adjusted to your preference, and even cool or warm lighting can be controlled as well!

P.S./ The steam room was seriously a lifesaver! I was so incredibly warm after the Onsen and the sauna that the steam room was a well deserved break.

Kimono Styling & HEIWA Wellness Restaurant

After the soak, we stepped out of the Onsen and headed to the restaurant for our meal.

The spa offers Kimono styling services for all Omakase diners, however, regular diners can wear the provided Yukata for their meals too! The spa very graciously offered us the styling as a complimentary gesture, and asides from the Kimono styling, they provide hair accessories, Wasaga (Japanese umbrella), paper fans, and even the traditional wooden clogs for photo taking!

The restaurant is helmed by Chef Wong who has over two decades of experience in providing authentic Japanese cuisine, with his forte in Sashimi and sushi. Chef Wong has years of experience in Tokyo, and is the man behind the spa’s luxurious Omakase menu!

This was the Omakase menu at the time of our visit. However, Chef Wong prepares the Omakase menu based on the seasonal imports of ingredients the spa receives everyday!

Yakiniku Beef Bento

Sushi Bento

I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the bento! Not only was the sushi tender and fresh, they were really generous with their portions! Both of our bentos came with a side of Miso soup, a small portion of salad, braised salmon, and thick Sashimi slices. The Yakiniku beef was tender and flavourful, and each bento set comes with free flow green tea with the option of having it hot or cold!

They also have other ala carte dishes, check out their full menu here!

Final Thoughts

If you are looking for a place to spoil and pamper yourself, HEIWA Wellness & Spa is definitely the place to go. It is a one stop shop for all your relaxation needs, and their restaurant and lounge area serves pretty amazing food, and if you are looking to sip on some Sake after your Onsen or spa experience, the restaurant provides a decent range of Sake as well!
