Nozomi by Yoshi: High-Quality Bento Sets and Donburis at Pocket-Friendly Prices

Nozomi by Yoshi is situated in one of the most frequently visited malls by Japanese - Millenia Walk. You might wonder why this mall is a popular choice among Japanese recently? It’s all because of the grand opening of the Meidi-Ya flagship store (a popular Japanese supermarket in Singapore) and the presence of many Japanese authentic restaurants and famous bakeries such as Pullman Bakery.

Concept Born During Circuit Breaker

A concept born out of circumstances during the initial outbreak of the COVID pandemic by Japanese fine dining restaurant, YOSHI - Nozomi (のぞみ) means “hope” in Japanese. As derived from the name of this place, Nozomi aims to bring you hope and strength during your times of despair and help us all remember that with hope, anything is possible. Nozomi by Yoshi converts their YOSHI's Kaiseki (multi-course meal revolving around seasonal produces) menu into a takeaway and delivery-friendly menu at affordable prices.

Recommended Menu Items:

  • Bara Chirashi Don with Hokkaido Uni and Ikura ($46)

Probably one of the most popular menu items at Nozomi by Yoshi - all sashimi slices are seasonal and diced in bite-sized cubes, paired with Hokkaido Uni and Ikura, and served on red vinegar sushi rice. You get the freshness of all the seafood right from Japan's Toyosu Market, at the same time on a warm bed of soft and fragrant Japanese sushi rice.

For those who don’t appreciate Uni and Ikura, or would prefer a more affordable lunch option, you can go with the Barachirashi (with the same seasonal sashimi) priced only at $28!

  • Yoshi Special Chirashi ($98)

This is for those who would like to share it with your friend, colleague, or partner! With 9 types of seasonal sashimi including Hokkaido Uni, Otoro, Ama Ebi, and Zuwaigani, the Yoshi Special Chirashi easily feeds 2 to 3 pax! If you are having your mini parties or gatherings, you can also consider ordering this in!

Oh yes, have I not dive deeper? - Nozomi by Yoshi offers takeaway options and delivery to your doorstep as well! Hence if you don’t want to make a trip down to purchase it, you can always order in at order.nozomi.sg

  • Wagyu Beef Don ($30)

A simple girl like me will stay devoted to my Wagyu Beef. This don features Grilled Wagyu Striploin (100g) and onsen egg served on Niigata rice. These 3 combinations will never go wrong - each mouthful I take emits great pleasure because, I’m not exaggerating, the beef literally melts in your mouth and blends with the rice.

  • Oyako Don ($16)

Oyako Don would be my ultimate top choice for lunch options! Don’t underestimate this classic soul food - the chicken is very tender, onions are marinated extremely well, and the rice fully absorbs the dashi sauce. This dish is easily one of my favorites at Nozomi!

Alternatives:

  • Daily Salmon Sashimi Platter ($28)

If you don't want to be stuffed with rice and feel a food coma after, then you can consider getting the Daily Sashimi Platters which come with Salmon, Akami (Lean Bluefin Tuna), and Seasonal White Fish.

The small platter costs $28 and comes with 3 pieces each, while the large platter costs $50 and comes with 6 pieces each!

  • Omakase Bento ($55)

Nozomi’s Omakase Bento contains: Yakimono, Agemono, Grilled Meat, Bamboo wrapped Sushi, Gohan, Tamagoyaki, Japanese Seasonal Greens, Chawanmushi, and pickles. However, as the bento set says Omakase, items inside will always be switched up accordingly to the seasonal fresh produces. Hence if you would like a detailed list of the items in the Omakase Bento, be sure to approach the waiter!

If you order your individual sake bottle, you are allowed to choose your own sake cup!

If you order your individual sake bottle, you are allowed to choose your own sake cup!

If you have been a frequent patronizer of Yoshi restaurant, or even if you have not heard of it, you may want to try Nozomi for its quality bento sets, seasonal fishes and sashimi, and donburis since they are priced at a much friendlier option If you ask me, I will return for another trip.
