I will be surprised to hear if you have not heard of Baristart Coffee Singapore, a popular Hokkaido cafe! Known for using rich and creamy Hokkaido Milk air-flown from Sapporo, Japan weekly, this cafe serves one of the best cream puffs I have had to date. It is not difficult to understand why it has been a hit among both Singaporeans and Japanese, and if you have not been there, there’s absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t!

With so much hot food, drinks, and desserts available at Baristart, here are some of our recommended items and the must-tries for those who are planning a visit!

  • Wafu Pasta ($17.80)

One of my favorite hot food items at Baristart - this Wafu Pasta serves you a good plate of Japanese-style soy sauce pasta (very similar to Aglio olio) with very succulent prawns and juicy slices of bacon!

  • Maple and Butter Sweet French Toast ($12.80)

One unique point about Baristart’s french toasts is they use Baguettes as their toast instead of plain loaves that other cafes use. And exactly because of this, their french toasts have a super crispy crust on the outside, and they are warm and soft on the inside. I love how it’s soaked generously with their Hokkaido Biei Milk before toasting, and pairing it with their Hokkaido Milk soft serve and maple syrup makes this french toast easily one of the best I have had.

  • Prosciutto and Tomato Balsamic Sauce ($15.80)

For someone who does not favor the taste of savory and sweet dishes, this is something I would gladly make an exception for. Drizzled with (sour) Balsamic sauce and topped with (sweet) fresh tomatoes, it's a perfect match together with the baguettes!

  • Tonkatsu Sando ($16.80)

This sandwich can be quite filling if you were to have it alone, so it is best if you have a friend to share this with. Both the Tonkatsu Sauce and Mustard Butter are homemade by Baristart and they pair well with the juicy and succulent Tonkatsu! Just look at the glistening pork cutlet right there…

  • Cream Puffs (1 for $6, and 3 for $16.50)

Last but not least, featuring the famous MUST-GET cream puffs wherever you visit Baristart. Using air-flown Hokkaido Biei Milk exclusively in the making of their cream filling, the crust of the cream puff is extremely flaky and crispy while the filling is sweet and delicious! With each bite that you take, you will be treated to an overflowing amount of smooth and rich cream. To be honest, I can have three at one go.

I have personally introduced 3 friends to their first-tries for these cream puffs and everyone loves them as much as I do!
